[Iowa DOT] 430034: Ignition Interlock Device Medical Waiver External Submission

Starting January 1, 2025, Iowa law allows individuals with medical conditions verified by a licensed doctor to waive the ignition interlock device (IID) requirement for OWI offenses occurring on or after January 1, 2025. Approved applicants can drive only with a Temporary Restricted License (TRL).

To apply, you'll need your physician's email address to complete the Medical Waiver electronically, or you can print and complete the form offline. Additionally, you must submit the TRL application. Temporary Restricted License Application.
